Isaias makes landfall; Tallahassee faces overnight flood and tornado risks
Leon County remains under a Flash Flood Warning and an overnight Tornado Watch as Hurricane Isaias moves inland across the western Florida Panhandle.

Hurricane Isaias has made landfall near Destin, but Tallahassee residents should remain alert for flooding and tornadoes overnight. The National Hurricane Center confirmed landfall at 9:30 p.m. EDT Friday. NHC landfall confirmation.

What to expect
At 11 p.m. EDT, NHC placed Isaias over the western Florida Panhandle, about 65 miles northwest of Panama City. Maximum sustained winds had decreased to 90 mph, and the storm was moving north at 20 mph. Continued weakening is expected, with gusty winds and flooding risks extending inland. NHC advisory 14.
For Leon County, NWS's 10:57 p.m. statement forecasts an additional 2–4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. It identifies continued tornado potential and the possibility of scattered power and communications outages. These local forecasts differ from the hurricane's maximum winds near its center. Stay safe overnight
Keep a reliable warning source available. If a tornado warning covers your location, move promptly to a basement, safe room or interior room away from windows. Mobile homes and tents do not provide safe tornado shelter. NWS tornado safety.

City closures
Tallahassee's outdoor athletic practices and games are canceled Saturday. City-run community and service centers and listed recreation facilities are scheduled to reopen Monday, October 12. Check city storm updates and outage information before traveling.
